Camping in Brittany

An authentic French camping experience

Nestled in the north west region of France the coastal region of Brittany is enduringly popular with holidaymakers. It has a distinctly Celtic feel, with a well documented history dating back to 600BC when the Gauls first arrived in the region.

Since then, the landscape of Brittany has been shaped by the imprints of its changing rulers. The Celts left behind a fascinating legacy of stone monuments, monoliths and altars, the best examples of which can be seen at Carnac.

Brittany is perhaps best known for its coastline - over 2,860km of cliffs, beaches and seaside villages to explore. If you’re a seafood lover or a seeker of watersports, fishing or sailing - then this is great location for your next campsite holiday.

Brittany is within easy access of the UK and Ireland and offers great camping holidays with a difference. We offer the fabulous 4 star  - Camping Le Panoramic - with stunning coastal views and only 750m from the beach.

What to do on your Brittany camping trip?

Sea and Surf

Brittany’s coastal towns and villages have strong seafaring links and is at its most spectacular between Pointe du Raz and Perros-Guirec, where high tides create waves of up to 30 metres, making the area popular with surfers, windsurfers and sightseers.

Along the north coast of Brittany, known as the Emerald Coast, towering cliffs give way to a more relaxed landscape of flat sandy beaches. As the coastline becomes more accessible and inviting, the number of campsites in Brittany increases.

Regional Cuisine

Food in the region is characterised by Brittany’s strong links with the sea and menus are often packed with the area’s famous Atlantic seafood. Seafood lovers often head to Vannes and the nearby coastal towns of Saint Brevin les Pins and St. Michel-Chef-Chef to sample locally sourced fresh shellfish.

Unusually for France, Brittany is not a cheese producing region, instead it's famous for its salted butter and scrumpy cider. Locals will tell visitors that they have not experienced true Brittany until they have tried delicious Galettes (savoury pancakes) or au beurre sale (salted caramels). For the authentic Brittany food experience, these are highly recommended.

Natural Attractions

The attractions of the Brittany region are its outstanding natural beauty, rich history and picturesque seaside towns. For families looking to go camping in Brittany, the region offers an inviting combination of evocative landscapes and family-friendly attractions such as Le Mont St Michel and the famous Oceanopolis marine complex and aquarium at Brest.
